MetaPM engaged to help develop Project Management Capability Development Road-Map

As a specialist project management consultancy and training firm, MetaPM works closely with a number of private and public sectors to assist them in the development of their PM delivery capability.

One of the common mistakes we have observed across these various organisations is the lack of a project delivery capability plan.  Just like every business is expected to do an annual review of it’s business plan to assess how they are performing against strategy and determine whether any adjustments are required to accommodate for changes in the economic, political or industry landscape, we also firmly believe that most organisations should also review and adjust their project management capability. It will come as no surprise to most, that when talking with organisations, they rarely have a considered plan which they’re working towards, just a set of projects which are either, in-flight, planned or finishing.  The conversations tend to be directed towards the required capacity of the team needed to deliver or the health of the project (or lack there of).

In some cases however, the light bulb has switched on and the organisation recognises that in order to move forward they need to know where they are and have an agreed plan.

The enclosed case study provides a recent example of one organisation that recognised the need to conduct such an assessment, in readiness for the year ahead.  Read more...
