Portfolio, Programme & Project Offices (P3O) – Foundation Course (3 days)

Recommended for: 

Portfolio and Programme Management Office Managers and Staff, Project and Programme Managers, Change Managers, Operational Staff,  Business Change Managers and managers from other disciplines that support and balance new business initiatives with Business-as-Usual.

P3O does require delegates have a sound working knowledge of programme and/or project management principles, and experience working in a change project environment would be an advantage.

Purpose:

This course covers the effective identification, design, plan and implementation of a P3O using the P3O Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices Office of Government Commerce manual.

The course is designed provide detailed guidance and  answer the following questions:

• Why have a P3O? 
• How a P3O model adds value 
• What is a P3O? 
• Roles and responsibilities within a P3O 
• Sizing and tailoring of the P3O model

• Overview of the types of P3O models, their functions & services, and its integration with the wider organisation
• Added value of a P3O model 
• Roles and responsibilities of key appointment holders within the P3O model
• Plan stages or tranches of P3O delivery
• Implementation of a new or enhanced P3O capability 
• Benefits of using tools and techniques  in support of a P3O
• Critical Success Factors to any P3O

Format & Presentation:

This course is delivered over three days and is a blend of instruction through lectures and audio-visual presentations and extensive case study work on real programmes by syndicates of participants. It follows the principles of accelerated learning. Participants receive comprehensive course manuals.  Evening work and study is required in order to be adequately prepared for the Foundation exam.
